Kim Derko c.s.c. is a full member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, IATSE 667 & 669, Directors Guild of Canada, The International Caucus of Female Cinematographers, verified by ARRAY CREW and was awarded the 2024 Master’s Award for Cinematography by the CSC.
Kim Derko c.s.c. lensed episodes of What We Do In The Shadows S5 for FX and also episodes for Director Sheree Folkson and Showruner Stacy Rukeyser of Sex/Life S2 on NETFLIX.
Other credits include Laura Vandervoort’s directorial debut: My Soul To Take,the Soska Sisters 2019 remake of Cronenberg's 1977 RABID, as well as Season 2 of Save Me for CBC Gem created by Fab Filippo which won a Canadian Screen Award 2020 and the
Her most recent 2ND unit DP shoot was for 2nd Unit Director Jessica Petelle on ALERT Missing Persons -SONY and the feature film Triggerpoint 2021 directed by Brad Turner. Other 2ND Unit work includes Tandem Unit on SUITS Season 8 and 2nd unit Director of Photography credits on numerous series including ANON, Hollywoodland, If I Were You, Schitt’s Creek, Reign, Murdoch Mysteries, The State Within.

Kim Derko csc was a camera operator on Martin Scorcese's documentary about SCTV shot at Toronto's Elgin Theatre. Also, Derko garnered a 2004 Gemini Award win for cinematography of Youkali Hotel and won Best Cinematography for "A Winter Tale" at the Zuma Film Festival 2006. She was also nominated for a Canadian Screen Award 2011 for best photography in a comedy series for "Winging It".

A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver, Kim Derko studied art history, colour theory and photography before becoming a cinematographer.
Kim Derko has directed 6 episodes of The Next Step and two episodes of "Odd Squad" for PBS along with several short films which have all premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. "Coronation Park", co-directed, in collaboration with Su Rynard premiered at the Toronto Urban Film Festival. She has directed numerous music videos and spots for VH1, and won a best independent music video award at Canada's MMVAs for Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet's " They Don't Call them Chihuahuas Anymore".
